BRP sees its ongoing financial support for – and collaboration with – these organizations, institutions and individuals as a twofold investment. As well as boosting the economic prosperity of the regions we invest in, our support also provides talented people the environment they need to flourish and encourages them to stay.
In late 2006, BRP committed an investment of over $15 million in a state-of-the-art centre for research and innovation into cutting-edge technologies in the motorized vehicles industry. This project will enable the development of advanced technologies while simultaneously giving valuable experience to highly qualified research professionals.
Based in the Eastern Townships of Quebec, the BRP – Université de Sherbrooke Advanced Technology Centre will create high-level jobs and spur socio-economic development in the region. By bringing together academic researchers and product engineers, the project will also improve the capacity of the Eastern Townships to retain young graduates.
This project also reflects BRP’s continued emphasis on environmental innovation. Research teams at the centre will focus on various core development areas – one of which is the advancement of environmentally friendly technologies.
BRP's drive to maintain its global leadership position in the field of product and technology innovation is also reflected in its 2006 investment of $3.6 million to expand its new product research and development centre in Valcourt and in its 2007 investment of $15 million in a new design and innovation centre. The state-of-the-art Design and Innovation Centre will bring together BRP’s design and advanced concept teams to increase synergies among them and enhance BRP’s ability to create the most innovative and competitive products.
