Valcourt, Quebec, Canada, December 1, 2004 - After the Paris-Dakar Rally, the 2004 Bombardier* DS650 X led by Ruben Martin, wins the Tecate Score Baja 1000, run between Ensenada and La Paz, Mexico. The DS650 X proves once again that it is a winner right out of the box.
On November 19, Fiesta Racing, led by Ruben Martin, steered their Bombardier DS650 X to victory in record time by setting a blistering average speed of 51 mph ( 81.6 km) over the 1,016-mile( 1,625 km) course. After winning the Tecate Score San Felipe 250 and the Tecate Score Baja 500 earlier this year, Fiesta Racing was on a mission to sweep the series with the DS650 X and finish first in the points. They achieved their goal after competing against the best in the desert racing community and by beating all other brands, coming through the finish line after 19:52:23 hours. "Our DS650 X never broke down, although we had two flat tires and had to search for gas at the last pit stop," said Ruben Martin, "but those were our only challenges, so the 2004 DS650 X is the King of Baja!"
Epic Racing, led by Ryan Wheeler, was also able to bring their DS650 X in for a strong finish to secure third place in the season points standing. These Baja racing results underscore that the Bombardier* DS650 X works exceptionally well both on the tracks and on the trails, even if those trails are 1,016 miles of the roughest terrain in Mexico. The winning DS650 X ATVs, stock machines with minimal modifications, dominated the Pro ATV class.
